When was the last time you missed sleep because you were so burdened for the lost you had to stay up and pray? When is the last time the realization of someones eternal destination drove you to tears? We say we love the Lord, we say we love people, but is our love demonstrated through our prayer life?
I do firmly believe evangelism starts with prayer. How can we hope people will meet Jesus if we are not on our knees praying for them. Praying for their hearts to be softened and their ears to be opened so that when the Lord brings them into our path we might be able to share with them the good news of Jesus and they will receive it with joy!
It is my earnest prayer that God would rekindle a great burden for souls and awaken the church anew to the realities of our eternal destination and the urgency of the hour in which we live.
Time is short. There is a quickening in my spirit pressing me on. We must share with the world the truth of God’s Word and we MUST sow seeds of prayer!
Recently we had a powerful service at our church and the power of God began to fall, an hour after church should have let out there were 21 people still lingering at the altar, praying. Many left, but I am convinced that a church of 21 filled with the power of the Holy Ghost can accomplish more for the Kingdom of God than a church of thousands where His presence is absent.
Leonard Ravenhill said — “The world is not waiting for a new definition of the Gospel, but a new demonstration of the power of the Gospel.” The power of God is always birthed in prayer!
Some of you reading right now might be thinking, “Yes, I want people to come to Jesus, but I don’t have a burden like that, I am not moved to tears.” That’s ok. I would ask that you just start praying and asking the Lord to give you a burden for souls. Ask Him to place inside of you his passions. After all, this is the whole reason Jesus came.
Luke 19:10 (ESV)For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Before He left He told us to carry on that mission.
Matthew 28:19 (ESV) Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
You might now be the one who goes all over the world, but you can pray! You can fall to your knees and earnestly seek God that men and women would come to the truth of Jesus. You can pray for God to send you opportunities to share with people in your community what God has done in your life.
Psalm 126:5-6 (NLT) Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
I do believe a great harvest is coming, let us pray. Let us weep. Let us pour our hearts out before the Lord believing the multitudes to again discover the power of the gospel! Let us pray that the power of God would again be demonstrated in our churches, in our schools in our places of work, in our communities, everywhere all over the world.
The heart of God has always been that the whole world may know Him. Let us pray with urgency that His will would be accomplished.
